Earn Capacity Revenue by Supporting PJM Grid Reliability

Eligible residential and commercial Tigo customers can enroll through Leap in the PJM Capacity Demand Response program. Current coverage includes ComEd, Pepco, BGE, Dominion Virginia, and FirstEnergy Pennsylvania territories, including Met-Ed, Penelec, West Penn Power, and Penn Power. Leap’s supplied 2026 materials identify this offering as PJM Capacity; it is distinct from PJM’s Emergency Load Response Program (ELRP).

How the Program Works

Participants commit a qualified amount of load reduction for a year-round, summer-only, or winter-only capability period. PJM may dispatch resources during grid reliability conditions, and Leap manages aggregation, event communication, metering data, performance calculations, and settlement. Events provide 30 minutes’ notice. Leap reports that the rules allow an unlimited number of events, although one or two events per season is typical and events often last one to two hours.

Incentive and Eligibility

  • Leap’s 2026 estimate is approximately $61 per kW-year for year-round participation or $31 per kW-year for a summer-only or winter-only commitment.
  • Residential and commercial sites with eligible battery storage, HVAC, or EV charging may qualify after equipment, utility-zone, and metering review.
  • Leap requires at least 10 kW of nominated capacity within each utility zone.
  • Performance is measured against the site’s PJM Peak Load Contribution. Nonperformance penalties may apply, and resources not dispatched may be required to complete a two-hour test.

How to Enroll

Complete enrollment through Tigo and Leap by Leap’s April 15 annual deadline. The year-round period runs June through May; summer-only participation covers June through October and May, and winter-only participation covers November through April. Follow the Battery Incentive Program Enrollment Guide for Tigo enrollment steps. Review the official PJM Demand Response page for current program requirements.
