Job Description

We are seeking a highly driven and adaptable Senior Technical Accountant to join our accounting team. This hybrid role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure across financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls.

You will work directly with the Financial Reporting Manager on key areas including SEC reporting, technical accounting research and application (e.g., inventory and warranty accruals), SOX compliance, and special projects tied to complex accounting transactions.

This position is ideal for someone early in their career with a strong foundation in accounting and a desire to take ownership. You’ll play a key role in building out processes while getting hands-on experience with a public company’s reporting and control environment.

This position is based either remotely or at our HQ in Los Gatos, CA.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to, but not limited to:

Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting:

  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K), including financial statements and footnotes.
  • Collaborate across accounting, finance, and operational teams to gather data and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining workbooks for technical accounting areas such as inventory and warranty accrual estimates, ensuring completeness and audit readiness.
  • Perform research on complex accounting matters and new GAAP standards; assist in documenting conclusions with relevant support.
  • Support financial reporting activities related to ad hoc or non-recurring transactions.

Close Support:

  • Responsible for inventory accounting including reviewing month transactions, inventory reserve, and LCM analysis, conducting regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies, identifying and resolving inventory-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly close processes by preparing reconciliations and supporting schedules related to complex areas.
  • Help improve the efficiency and quality of financial close documentation over time.

Internal Controls / SOX Compliance:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating SOX process documentation by coordinating with cross-functional teams to identify changes in process or risk.
  • Work with external SOX advisors to support ongoing compliance efforts.
  • Help track and implement control changes and support walkthrough and testing activities with external auditors.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ total experience in accounting at a public company
  • Big Four accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with Shareworks software a plus
  • Experience with Netsuite a plus
  • Strong computer skills (Advanced Excel skills)
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision, independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Dedicated to continuously improving processes and quality of documentation and information
