Earn Upfront and Ongoing Battery Incentives in Wyoming

Rocky Mountain Power’s Wattsmart Battery program rewards eligible Wyoming residential customers for enrolling a new qualifying battery that the utility can use to help manage the electric grid.

How the Program Works

Participants grant Rocky Mountain Power remote access to monitor, charge, and discharge an enrolled battery for grid-management purposes. The utility may use participating batteries daily when conditions support it and states that it will not discharge them below 10%. Residential enrollment begins with a four-year commitment and continues annually unless ended.

Incentive and Eligibility

  • For incentive levels effective July 1, 2026, a single residential battery under 10 kW can receive $1,000 upfront; a single battery of at least 10 kW can receive $2,000 upfront.
  • During years two through four, residential participants can receive $15 per kW per year in monthly bill credits, capped at $100 annually. After the initial four-year term, continuing participants can receive $50 per kW per year, capped at $250 annually.
  • Customers need a new qualifying battery, required interconnection and customer-generation approvals, reliable internet service, and a signed program agreement. Standalone batteries are subject to applicable time-of-use rate requirements.
  • Only batteries on Rocky Mountain Power’s current qualifying list are eligible; confirm equipment eligibility before purchasing or applying.
