Job Description

Tigo Energy, a global leader in delivering smart hardware and software solutions that enhance safety, increase energy yield, and lower operating costs for the solar industry, is seeking an Associate Counsel to support our high-growth international business. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role involves drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, managing litigation matters, advising on regulatory and compliance issues, and enhancing internal legal processes.

Salary range: $150,000 - $165,000

Responsibilities

  • Drafting, negotiating and finalizing a variety of agreements relevant to a high-growth solar technology company, including NDAs, distribution agreements, vendor agreements, master supply agreements, SaaS agreements, and other various agreements.
  • Coordinating several litigation matters with outside counsel and internal departments, including reviewing and summarizing complaints, drafting and reviewing discovery responses, coordinating material submission and assisting with litigation strategy.
  • Participating and advising on various commercial, international, compliance, regulatory and data privacy matters, working with external counsel as needed.
  • Updating and improving internal processes, template agreements and best practice guides, being a key facilitator of the legal department’s initiative to support a high-growth international enterprise.
  • Supporting a small, but mighty legal team comprised of two in-house attorneys and several external firms, meaning you will have ample opportunity to (and be expected to) pitch in and work on matters outside of your “main focus” areas.  You will also advise and support on a variety of other tasks as required (e.g., in relation to US employment law matters, corporate governance, intellectual property, etc.).
  • Identifying gaps and providing resources to go-to-market teams pertaining to the contracting process, contracting terms and other common legal issues in negotiations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and an active bar license in at least one US state.
  • 3-6 years of transactional corporate/commercial experience (either in a law firm setting or in-house), ideally with commercial, SaaS, data privacy, or solar industry experience.  Prior experience in a public company or international company setting is also a plus.
  • Excellent drafting, communication and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work closely with different departments and manage many projects effectively, independently or with little oversight.  Self-driven with a mindset that no task is too big or too small
  • Have demonstrated strong capability to think strategically, handle ambiguity and shift priorities with flexibility, patience and poise.  Have strong ability to make risk-based commercial decisions.
  • High attention to detail, strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering results.
  • Pragmatic approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and skilled in prioritizing and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
